The Task Ahead

I was just taking a quick look at our coming schedule and…….   damn.

I know we’re all riding a little high after a string of decent-impressive results.  But we have a tough closing schedule.  7 of 12 games are on the road.

That said, if we really hope/want to make a move up the table, we play EVERY SINGLE ONE of the six teams above us in the table.  Take a look:

Mar 6 1:00 PM ET Athletic Bilbao v Sevilla FC San Mamés La Liga
Mar 13 4:00 PM ET Sevilla FC v Barcelona Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán La Liga
Mar 20 12:00 PM ET Valencia v Sevilla FC Mestalla La Liga
Apr 3 11:00 AM ET Sevilla FC v Real Zaragoza Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán La Liga
Apr 10 11:00 AM ET Mallorca v Sevilla FC Iberostar Estadi La Liga
Apr 17 11:00 AM ET Getafe v Sevilla FC Coliseum Alfonso Pérez La Liga
Apr 24 11:00 AM ET Sevilla FC v Villarreal Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán La Liga
May 1 11:00 AM ET Almeria v Sevilla FC Juegos Mediterráneos La Liga
May 8 11:00 AM ET Sevilla FC v Real Madrid Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán La Liga
May 11 2:00 PM ET Osasuna v Sevilla FC Reyno de Navarra La Liga
May 15 11:00 AM ET Sevilla FC v Real Sociedad Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán La Liga
May 22 11:00 AM ET Espanyol v Sevilla FC Cornellá – El Prat La Liga

I’ve enjoyed daydreaming about the CL, but its a ways off and the schedule wll not do us any favors.  And yet, with a singular focus on these league matches, and if our apparent show of form is for real… who knows?

I’d say we need at least 24 points out of these games while Valencia or Villareal only manage 13 or so from their remaining twelve games.  Unlikely… but not impossible.

So, given that we’re no longer in any competitions, lets just enjoy this.  There will be some good games coming up with a lot on the line for both ourselves and our opponents.

Go Sevilla!
