Real Sociedad – Sevilla

When Monchi came by our website this weekend (Monchi totally reads our blog, you guys. For sure), he was probably devastated to see how little reaction there was to our ongoing turnaround in the year 2011. I can understand his consternation, but GOSH, we’re busy sometimes, right? Anyway, in recognition of our continued and surprising form, here’s a set of highlights from our really fantastic win over Real Sociedad.

Like everyone but Theo I didn’t see any of this game, so mostly I’m taking away from this that we won, that our forwards are doing their job, and that Manzano played for the W with LuFa, Negredo, and Kanoute all on the field together. (Also obviously notable is that having all 3 of them on the field together worked so well.)

Next up is a pretty big game Wednesday at Villarreal for the Copa quarterfinals, for which Palop will be absent due to a strain-type of injury in his right thigh. In addition to the obvious value the game represents as an opportunity to win more hardware, this game is a chance for the team to show what I imagine everyone here believes on some level, that we belong in the same category as Villarreal, and that our distance in the table right now is an anomaly, not an indication of a new direction for the club. Let’s prove that, then. Go Sevilla.
